Meet Kelly Bamm, Mother of 11 & Faith-Filled Cancer Survivor

Do you ever meet someone and wish you had all the time in the world even though their story tells you clearly that none of us have all the time in the world? Such was the case the first time I talked to Kelly. She had signed up to see if she could be showcased on our podcast because "if she could just get one other woman to listen to her body and be proactive in her health, then her journey would be worth it". When you find women that are driven--truly driven with a mission--then you have two choices, get on board or get out of the way. Every mama bear/tiger teacher mother understands the power of conviction--especially when your babies and your way of life are threatened.

Unfortunately, the first time I spoke to Kelly, I did have to cut her short due to other commitments, but I'd like to think that I made it up in taking more minutes during our podcast to talk about not only her cancer, her commitment, her perseverence, but also the strength of her faith in God's plan for her life and her family. Kelly, with the caveat ahead of the show that chemotherapy can have adverse effects on her focus and train of thought, led us through her motherhood and opened a windown into how her mind reasons and her soul shines.

With so much grace, Kelly talked with total candor--never shielding us from the challenges of motherhood. How do you grapple with potential ADHD? What to do with a child that doesn't seem to like school? What to do when your children don't fit the norm? Kelly showed that she understood deeply that she should follow God's lead--that each child is created to be uniquely him or her and loved from creation. She showed her Christ-centered motherhood from the unbounded love that she has for her children.

In this podcast, Kelly showcases the wisdom that is in all of us as mothers, but often shrouded due to our own insecurities, demons, jealousies, and shame. Kelly's cancer stripped away anything that is superfluous--there is no time in Kelly's world at this point for anything but gratitude. When you are told "get your life in order" and only weeks to a few months to live, life becomes crystal clear and your north star quickly and firmly becomes fixed not on yourself, but on your maker. I guarantee that 99% of Kelly's prayers are not for herself, but for her husband and children--that they, too, can accept God's plan as she has accepted God's plan for her own life.

May God bless Kelly and continue her motherhood on this earth so that she may continue to inspire all of us to be the mothers that Christ knew we were capable of being.
